The dress that the late British signer Amy Winehouse wore on the cover of her 2006 album “Back to Black” fetched 43,200 pounds, or $70,440, at an auction in London Tuesday.
The printed chiffon dress by Thailand-based designer Disaya Sorakraikitikul was sold by London’s Kerry Taylor Auctions to benefit the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which the singer’s parents set up as a charity following her death to help vulnerable young people.
The dress was acquired by a museum, the Fundacion Museo De La Moda in Chile. The dress had an original estimate of between 10,000 and 20,000 pounds, or between $16,300 and $32,600.
