As if there aren't enough Karl Lagerfeld disciples out there already, international newspaper Metro is hoping to convert 800 million more. The tireless designer will take over guest editing duties for a day at Metro's Paris
offices on February 7, WWD is reporting. This is apropos, since it will be the day the paper kicks off fashion coverage for the Fall 2012 shows.
Last year was the Frech newspaper Libération who invited Karl Lagerfeld to be editor-in-chief for the day during Paris Fashion Week.
The designer will be providing some of his famous illustrations and what's sure to be quote-worthy commentary in the edition, which will be called "The World According to Karl." "I love daily papers and it's fun to be part of one of them just for the day, "Lagerfeld told WWD. "Metro is on a worldwide scale and it's even more fun." The paper runs in 100 cities in 22 countries, and has the potential to reach 800 million people; 17 million read it on a daily basis.
Possibly the best part of all this-well, besides getting to read Karl's wise words-is that there's a contest attached. According to WWD, you can submit your "fashion statements" to a 'global web site' in a Look Book competition (that's all we know-we'll update when we figure out the URL for the 'global web site'). The winner will be flown to Paris to be an editorial assistant on February 6, and will also get a bunch of Lagerfeld swag.
