The co-founder and director of luxury accessories brand Jimmy has resigned from Jimmy Choo, the brand she founded in 1996 along with shoemaker Jimmy Choo.
Tamara Mellon's abrupt departure, announced yesterday, comes five months after she made £85million from the £525.5million sale of the business.
At the time of the sale Ms Mellon was said to be staying on in a creative consultancy role and that she, along with other senior members of the Jimmy Choo management team, would become shareholders in Labelux, the luxury firm that bought Jimmy Choo in May.
However, her departure, along with the label's chief executive Joshua Schulman, has raised more than a few eyebrows in the industry.
Although the reasons behind the departure of the two are as yet unknown, Labelux said that the pair left amicably after the Jimmy Choo brand had been integrated into the rest of the company, adding that Mellon and Schulman were 'entrepreneurs' who would go on to new things. www.dailymai.co.uk
